About Robyn O'Connell
Robyn is a funeral celebrant, author, speaker and funeral celebrant trainer. She lives in Melbourne with her husband David and follows her actor son James’ career with great interest.
As a presenter, she has spoken at numerous celebrant conferences across Australia as well at an international conference on grief and bereavement.
Robyn now trains funeral celebrants in the hope that they too will help people when they are faced with the difficult task of saying goodbye to someone that they love.
To keep a balance in her life, Robyn also does emcee work at corporate nights like travel information sessions and presents at breakfast seminars. Sought after as an after dinner speaker, many are surprised when talking about a topic of grief and bereavement or the life of a celebrant that smiles and laughter abound.
In writing funerals, Robyn’s philosophy is that people will leave a service with memories that will live on in their hearts and minds forever.
Her passion in life is to make a difference in people’s lives, whether that is through celebrating the life of someone that they loved, training people in the fulfilling role of a funeral celebrant or just empowering people in the belief that if they just believe in themselves, they can make things happen!
Robyn would love people to talk about death more, in the same way we talk about birth. Writing a book, ‘What Happens When You Die? A child’s questions answered’ 11 years ago, this book is still available in shops, libraries or online from her website today! It is her hope, one day we will live in a world that accepts that death is a part of life so therefore should be openly discussed.
